Texas Match Play at Live Oak Golf Club
October 13–14, 2025
Live Oak Golf Club – Abilene, Texas
During AISD’s fall break, the Argyle Lady Eagles golf team traveled to Abilene to compete in the Texas Match Play event at Live Oak Golf Club on October 13–14. The tournament featured a unique match play format, including teams from Canyon, Glen Rose, Abilene, and Abilene Wylie High Schools.
In this event, each Lady Eagle played four singles matches—one against each school in their pool. While matches were scored using traditional match play rules, players also completed each hole for individual stroke scores.
Day One – Pool Play Battles
The Lady Eagles opened competition against Canyon High School in a tightly contested match that ended in a 2.5–2.5 tie. Three Argyle golfers—Colbie Moses (-1, 35), Alex Mara (E, 36), and Lily Bayer (42)—all finished All Square in their matches. Hailey Perkins provided a big boost for the team, winning her match 4&3 after shooting 43.
Argyle faced host Glen Rose in another competitive nine-hole round in their second match. The Lady Eagles came up just short but earned a half point from Colbie Moses, who carded a 38 to finish her match All Square and close out Day One play.
Day Two – Closing Strong
The Lady Eagles came out strong on Day Two, opening with a 4.5–0.5 victory over Abilene High School. Hailey Perkins continued her impressive play, following up a career-best 18-hole round from Day One with a 44 and another match win. Sloane McMellian battled to the final hole to secure her victory, while Alex Mara and Lily Bayer also claimed wins to help Argyle dominate the match.
In the final round against Abilene Wylie, the Lady Eagles carried their momentum to another strong finish, winning four of five matches and earning four more team points.
Argyle closed out the Texas Match Play with an overall record of 11–6.5, showcasing strong individual play, teamwork, and mental toughness across two days of competitive golf.
A Unique Experience for the Team
The Texas Match Play gave the Lady Eagles a rare opportunity to experience head-to-head competition—just a few weeks after the U.S. Men’s Team faced Europe in the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York. The event also offered valuable time for team bonding and competitive growth midway through the fall season.
