JV Lady Eagles Take 3rd at District 6-5A Championships

Day 2 of the District 6-5A Championships was a success for the JV Lady Eagles. By the night's end, they earned a 3rd place finish as a team in one of the toughest Districts in Texas.
The morning field events started strong, with sophomore Allie King taking the gold medal in the high jump. She placed 1st, clearing a height of 4-10. Competing in the long jump was senior Natalie Bartocci. She placed 10th with a jump of 12-0.50. Also competing was freshman Alekha Marottickel Jolly, who threw 20-0.25 in the shot put for 14th. This was a new PR for Jolly.
The running events began with the 4X100m relay, in which Argyle secured the gold. The team consisting of junior Londan Jordan, and freshmen Deana Somers, Katie Killoren, and Julia Allen ran 52.48 for first, edging out Denton Ryan by a tenth of a second.
In the 800m, junior London Fry and freshman Bella Moes were neck and neck on the finish line, running 2:52.72 and 2:52.74 for 10th and 11th. This was a new personal best for Moes.
Freshman Katie Killoren and junior Londan Jordan competed for the Lady Eagles in the 100m dash. They placed 5th and 6th, putting points on the board. Killoren ran 13.68, and Jordan ran 13.80; a new PR for Killoren.
The Lady Eagles secured another relay win in the 4X200m relay. With a solid lead on 2nd place, the team of sophomores Kensley Vest and Landry Murphy, and freshmen Deana Somers and Julia Allen ran 1:50.66 to take 1st place overall.
In the open 400m, freshman Burkley Patton placed 4th, putting points on the board for the Lady Eagles, and running a new PR of 1:06.63. Also competing was freshman Hannah Childs, who secured points with a 6th-place finish, and ran a new personal best of 1:08.14.
The 300m hurdles were also met with success. Sophomore Kate Lane ran a personal best of 52.50 to place 2nd overall. Additionally, freshman Julia Allen set a new PR in the open 200m, running 27.28 for 2nd place.
Competing in the 1600m run were junior Ariana Hernandez, sophomore Karson Riewerts, and freshman Jordan Augenstein. Hernandez ran a new PR of 6:07.34 for 7th. Riewerts ran 6:16.95 for 9th, and Augenstein ran a new personal best of 6:28.48 to take 14th.
The night concluded with the 4X400m relay which placed 2nd overall. The team of freshman Burkley Patton, sophomores Landry Murphy and Kensley Vest, and freshman Deana Somers finished with a time of 4:24.38. All in all, it was a great day for the Argyle Track and Field team.
